Tamara Strzelecki, aka Nurse Tami, is a blue-haired mama, wife, nurse, and creative entrepreneur. She’s worked in the ER, NICU, Pediatrics, HEDIS (stands for Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) and long term care. Currently, the fierce and awesome Nurse Tami is a hospice nurse.
Tami survived postpartum depression, bullying, nursing burnout, disordered eating, early-onset osteoporosis with multiple rib fractures, depression and anxiety. She utilizes her social platforms and her ambassador position at Cherokee (the scrubs uniform company) to normalize mental health disparities and to discuss bullying and lateral violence in nursing. She wants everyone to know it’s okay to not be okay. When Tami’s not nursing or being a mama, she reaches for her sewing machine to create and sell custom tie-dyed threads and bohemian fashions.
Tami is here today to discuss how hospice nursing saved her. After almost two years of doing everything she could BUT nursing, Tami came back to care for the dying, their families, and loved ones. She’s honored to care for her patients in the last chapters of their lives, where she can provide peace, comfort, and dignity in death- giving her an incredible purpose to show others how death doesn’t have to be scary, painful, or undignified.
